In an interview with Vogue Australia, former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham discussed the media’s fixation with her weight and revealed that she had once been forced to weigh herself on a British television programme.
The 48-year-old started the incident happened shortly after the birth of her first child, Brooklyn, in 1999, in the interview, an excerpt of which was provided by media outlet The Australian ahead of Vogue Australia’s July issue.
It happened while Chris Evans, a British radio and television personality, was hosting a television programme.
I recently had Brooklyn and through a significant weight loss. My mother experienced it following her pregnancy. It doesn’t imply that you suffer from an eating disorder. To be weighed, [Evan] forced me to stand on the scales. Could you picture doing that today? She spoke.
A YouTube footage from the programme attests to the incident’s occurrence in May 1999.
Newspapers began publishing articles on her body at about the same time, Beckham continued. “On the front page of a newspaper, there was a picture pointing to every single area of my body where I needed to concentrate on losing weight from… I’ve used the headlines “Porky Posh” and “Skeletal Posh.”
Following the end of her singing career, the former Spice Girl, who is married to football legend David Beckham and has four children with him, established a prosperous career as a fashion designer. Her physique and way of life are still under intense scrutiny.
She mentioned how another round of discussion and criticism followed a recent podcast in which her spouse discussed her diet.
I get extremely emotional over food and wine, the ex-football player admitted. I want everyone to sample the food that I enjoy eating.
I’m married to someone who, regrettably, has consumed the same food for the past 25 years. Victoria has only eaten grilled fish and steamed vegetables since I first met her. She will very infrequently stray from that.
Victoria Beckham, however, scoffed at that and called it a “boring” representation of her actual diet.
She explained: “What he meant is that he’s never met somebody who is more strict about their eating habits. I consume a lot of good fats, such as those found in fish, avocados, almonds, etc. I do consume alcohol unless there is a good reason not to.
