Apple has announced a substantial hike for the UK App Store prices. This increase includes app and in-app purchases as well.
SO, WHAT'S THE REASON FOR THE HIKE?
The substantial hike, set to be around 25%, is due largely to Brexit. As you’ve probably noticed, the British pound has been sliding against major currencies due to the uncertainty associated with the Brexit move.
The current increase will bring some parity between App Store costs in both the UK and USA. Since the pound has been one of the worst performing currencies against the dollar, the price hike should come as no surprise. Apple has chalked down increases to factors which include currency risk, exchange rates and taxes.
WHAT ABOUT OTHER COUNTRIES?
India and Turkey have also not been spared from this. App Store users and developers will also face similar increases in these countries.
We'll keep tabs on Apple's price changes on their App Store to keep this article updated. Stay tuned for any changes.
