List of the Best Shows To Watch On Amazon Prime
The Jack Ryan films, at least the ones featuring Harrison Ford, were a lot of fun. While a prequel film starring Chris Pine failed miserably, this alternative TV adaptation is certainly worth watching. Ryan, a CIA analyst forced into the field, is played by John Krasinski with ease.
Wendell Pierce of The Wire is excellent as Ryan’s mentor, Jack Greer, a position that was formerly played by James Earl Jones. Then he has some big shoes to fill, but he pulls them off. It’s a touch Mission: Impossible-lite at places, but it’s well worth seeing in 4K.
It premiered on HBO on June 2, 2002, and revolves around Avon Barksdale’s leadership of Baltimore’s inner-city drug scene.
Detective James McNulty has been tasked with apprehending the infamous Kingpin. However, it turns out to be far more intricate than he and his team had imagined, and things swiftly spiral out of control.
The Wire received great reviews from reviewers and has since gone on to win a number of honors in the industry.
A Very British Scandal (2022)
A Very British Scandal dramatizes the highly publicized, real-life divorce of the Duke and Duchess of Argyll in the 1960s over three hour-long episodes.
It recounts everything from the pair’s first meeting to their appearances in court and stars Claire Foy of Netflix’s The Crown and Paul Bettany of WandaVision. Enter this engrossing rendition, which contains strong performances by Foy and Bettany.
Vikings appear to be a bit one-dimensional at first glance: an entire show devoted to the pillaging, conquering, and horrific world of Viking Ragnar Lothbrok. But this isn’t Game of Thrones on a shoestring budget.
Character development is masterfully handled in the first three seasons, and Vikings convey a simple story incredibly well, even up to season 6.
One of the most well-known TV series on this list is The Sopranos.
The American crime drama follows Tony Soprano, a well-known Italian-American mob boss, as he strives to reconcile his personal and professional lives while overseeing his criminal empire.
It has been nominated for and won numerous industry honors, including 21 Primetime Emmy Awards and five Golden Globe Awards. It is widely regarded as one of the finest television shows of all time.
From January 10, 1999, through June 10, 2007, the show aired 86 episodes across six seasons.
Mozart in the Jungle (2014-2018)
Mozart in the Jungle is a comedy-drama set in New York’s classical music world that is as wacky as its title suggests. Hailey, an aspiring oboist, meets Rodrigo, an eccentric conductor tasked with rejuvenating the New York Symphony.
Mozart in the Jungle pleasantly presents an edgier side to the world of strings, playing its own symphony of sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll, never losing you in jargon.
The beauty of Amazon Prime – and Netflix – is that they bring previously dead shows like The Expanse back to life. It’s a show about what happens when humanity colonizes the solar system (hint: it’s not good).
After three seasons on Syfy, The Expanse was given a new home on Amazon. Why? For one thing, CEO Jeff Bezos is a huge supporter. We’re pleased he did since this is some of the best sci-fi and universe-building we’ve ever seen.
Tina Fey created the television sitcom 30 Rock, which premiered on NBC on October 11, 2006, and ended on January 31, 2013.
30 Rock, which takes place behind the scenes of a fictional live comedy show that airs on NBC, is based on Fey’s actual experiences as the chief writer for Saturday Night Live.
30 Rock has earned numerous honors in the industry, including Primetime Emmys and a Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy.
This horror anthology series not only features Japanese folklore and explorers venturing into unexplored areas, but it also features a pre-Chornobyl Jared Harris in the opening segment. He portrays the skipper of Arctic exploration ships that become stranded in ice.
In addition to the terrible weather and cabin fever, the crew is being pursued by an unseen presence in the mist. The Terror is a terrific, prestige horror film that is laced with atmospheric dread. Terror is accessible in Australia on Prime Video and in the United States on AMC.
