Bridgerton season 3 will not be available on Netflix until June 2022. But, given how recently Season 2 was released, we weren’t expecting to see the beloved Regency Era drama return to our screens so soon. Having stated that, when can we expect the third season? All of the latest news may be found below.
Bridgerton season 3 will be slightly different, as we heard earlier this week.
According to Bridgerton’s own Nicola Coughlan, the third season of the Shonda Rhimes series will deviate from Julia Quinn’s traditional book order, focusing on Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton’s (Luke Newton) love story, rather than Benedict Bridgerton, as in the third book in the series, An Offer From a Gentleman.
Seasons 1 and 2 followed the book format, but according to Jess Brownell, Bridgerton’s new showrunner, the choice to depart from the traditional structure was made simply because it felt like “the appropriate moment to tell their story.”
Is Season 3 of Bridgerton on the way to Netflix in June 2022?
Bridgerton Season 3 will not be available on Netflix in June. While the series has been given the green light by Netflix, the exact release date is yet to be determined. So far, all we have is an official confirmation that Bridgerton will return for Season 3.
Furthermore, given how recently Season 2 was released, it’s unlikely that Season 3 will be released very soon.
When will the third season of Bridgerton be released?
The release date for Bridgerton season 3 has yet to be revealed by Netflix. Season 3 is expected to begin filming in the summer of 2022, according to reports. Let’s have a look at the schedules from prior seasons.
Bridgerton’s first season began filming in July 2019 and ended in late February 2020, with a December 2020 release date. Due to COVID-related filming delays, the second season began production in March 2021 and ended in November 2021.
In March 2022, that season was released. In essence, both seasons required close to a year to produce and deliver, putting the Bridgerton season 3 premiere date in May 2023.
The screenplays have already begun to be written, according to producer Shonda Rhimes. “We’re already planning on season 3, so we can have a shorter period between seasons,” she said on the Bridgerton season 2 red carpet, according to PopBuzz(opens in new tab). Maybe we could expect the Netflix show to come back even sooner…

What Can We Expect From Season 3 of Bridgerton?
It’s a fact. Collin and Penelope’s love story will be the focus of Season 3 of Bridgerton. In the coming season, the show may start diverging further from the book. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Shonda Rhimes stated that the program does not have to follow the book’s order.
This implies that the following season will be full of surprises. Quinn’s art has a darker edge to it, and hot moments can be expected.
Jess Brownell said why it’s “the perfect moment” for the couple to assume the lead in the successful Netflix drama in an interview with Variety. She stated to the publication, ”
“It feels like Colin and Penelope’s time has come. We’ve already invested in both of these actors because we’ve been watching them on our televisions since season one. We are aware of who they are as individuals. Rather of treading water with that dynamic, we wanted to introduce it early in their season. Things seemed like the right time to start teeing it up.”
