It’s finally here: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opens in theatres today after months of anticipation.
Along with returning cast members Elisabeth Olsen and Benedict Wong, and newcomer Xochitl Gomez as the superheroine America Chavez, the sequel features Benedict Cumberbatch as the film’s titular superhero once again.
It’s not clear whether or not Doctor Strange 2 will be Benedict Cumberbatch’s last solo adventure, given the film ends with two cliffhangers. For all that, Marvel Studios hasn’t announced a third film in the series, Doctor Strange 3.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Doctor Strange and his comrades may have a lot more to offer, but it’s not yet clear if this will happen in another feature, a TV show, or a crossover movie.
Dr. Strange 3’s conceivable release date is as follows:
As previously stated, a release date for Doctor Strange 3 has yet to be determined due to the fact that the sequel’s existence has not yet been confirmed.
In 2024, Marvel has reserved a few dates for the release of the third film. Dates for these events include February 16, 2024, May 3, 2024, July 26, 2020, and November 8, 2020.
There may be a delay in the release of the third film since we feel that a two-year turnaround is too short. Whenever we get new information, we’ll post it here.
Who will return to reprise their roles as Doctor Strange in the next sequel?
Without Benedict Cumberbatch’s Steven Strange, there would be no Doctor Strange 3. The majority of Marvel’s leading men and women retire after completing three solo excursions. As of this writing, only Chris Hemsworth as Thor has made it to four films.
For that reason, we can only assume that Sorcerer Supreme Wong will return in some form or another in future MCU films, considering his frequent appearances elsewhere in the franchise.
There’s not much left to discover about Doctor Strange’s Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and there’s the lingering question of whether or not she’ll be around for the conclusion of the film’s sequel.
“It’s strange that I’m expecting to return, but no one has informed me what I’m doing! Nevertheless, I’m going into this thinking they’ll have me back. However, I want to return in some role at some point “In her MCU future, Olsen stated.
“It would be nice if there was something else out there that I could enjoy. What’s the next step? We’ve accomplished so much together. It’s been really a crazy two years with her.”
Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer and Xochitl Gomez as the multiverse-hopping America Chavez might both easily return.
Although we haven’t heard anything about a Young Avengers movie (where she’d more likely have a big part), this doesn’t rule out the possibility of her starring in future films.
Charlize Theron plays Clea, Doctor Strange’s long-term love interest and ultimately wife, in the film’s mid-credits sequence. As a result of his pranks in the universe, she’s asking him for aid in dealing with an intrusion he’s caused.
So Theron will definitely be returning in the threequel (if it happens, of course) and he may also appear in other projects.
Writer of Doctor Strange 2 Clea’s entrance was meant to end Strange’s relationship with Christine, according to Michael Waldron.
Comic books are full of wonderful experiences, and we wanted to bring her in, but it seemed like we had to shut the book to some extent on his love story with Christine Palmer, Rachel McAdams’ character.
Instagram content has been used to populate this page. On their website, you may be able to access the same content in a different format or extra information.
As for the remainder of the MCU’s ever-expanding ensemble of characters, take your choice! Yes, even the departed! The multiverse possibilities are limitless! God help us all.
Behind the scenes, there’s no clue of who will return. Scott Derrickson directed the first picture and was slated to helm the sequel, but Sam Raimi took over midway through its creation.
Doctor Strange 3 Plot Speculation
If Doctor Strange 3 receives the go-light, we think the film will pick off where the Multiverse of Madness left off. It’s likely that Stephen will continue to struggle with the aftereffects of the black magic he unleashed on Wanda. The Bleeker Street magician will also have to fight with the freshly arrived Clea (Charlize Theron) (Charlize Theron).
In the comic books, Clea is a follower of Strange’s who eventually becomes his wife before succeeding him as the Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme.
Clea is tied to the Dread Dormammu, the evil monster Stephen fought in his first film, so it’s probable the peril she warns Strange about is his reappearance.
It’s impossible to forecast the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Benedict Wong informed us about his own plan for a third Strange movie when we spoke to him about a possible sequel.
“I like the notion of the Secret Wars,” he said. “I like the idea of bringing everyone together and introducing a fresh crop of foes.” “Yeah, I suppose the Secret Wars would be [where I want Doctor Strange 3 to go].”
