On YouTube, which is owned by Google, 50 new education channels have recently been introduced by Unacademy, an Indian unicorn in the education technology sector. Millions of students in academic and non-academic categories now have much greater accessibility thanks to the channels.
Only a small number of these 50 channels are based on Unacademy’s already-existing content categories. They signify Unacademy’s entry into more contemporary areas, such as “Tick Tock Tax,” which seeks to make direct and indirect tax principles easier to understand, and “Life After IIT,” a forum for JEE success stories and JEE preparation.
Chief Operating Officer of Unacademy, Vivek Sinha, commented on the recently launched program and said:
“We are reaffirming our commitment to democratizing education and delivering a solid content approach for students who are interested in learning in novel and new ways.
Additionally, we are expanding our mission to include the greater community, and this is the perfect time to let everyone know about it.
The educational channels cover a wide range of subjects, including NEET-UG and JEE, UPSC and other post-graduate segments, banking, SSC, and defense.
For learners and aspirants across India, each channel will have the best educators curating and producing top-notch content. They include Dr. Anand Mani, Namo Kaul, Nishant Vora, Mrunal Patel, Ashish Arora, and Mohit Bhargava among others.
Karan Shroff, Partner and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Unacademy continued:
“Expansion and growth are the two key factors determining Unacademy’s future. We are starting these channels as a result. More than 250 distinguished instructors will lead them. More than 200 Youtube channels are part of Unacademy, and with the new project, we are also focusing on regional channels.
The newest effort was unveiled during the first Unacademy One, the company’s flagship event supported by SoftBank and attended by the nation’s top educators.
All GATE candidates will have access to high-quality content for the category thanks to a partnership between Unacademy and GATE Academy, which was also revealed. As Vice President, Academics, GATE & ESE, Umesh Dhande has joined the Unacademy platform.
More than 99 million students use the site, and there are over 91,000 registered educators in its network. More than 14 Indian languages are used to teach students in 10,000 cities.
Shroff claimed that the project would also disseminate lessons from both the top students and those who first failed the examinations but later excelled.
Unacademy was established in 2015 by Gaurav Munjal, Hemesh Singh, and Roman Saini. It now has over 99 million learners and a growing network of over 91,000 registered educators who teach in over 14 Indian languages. The business from Bengaluru has expanded into physical tutoring centers around the nation as the online education market contracts.
Unacademy recently stated that frugality is one of its basic values. In two years, it hopes to go public and is currently concentrating on profitability. Gaurav Munjal, co-founder, and CEO of Unacademy Group said that the founders had reduced their salaries and that “some enterprises” were being shut down.
Unacademy raised $440 million in a fundraising deal in August 2021 that was co-led by Temasek and included General Atlantic, Tiger Global, and Softbank Vision Fund. The Unacademy Group is now valued at $3.44 billion, up from $2 billion in November 2020 as a result of the funding.
