We now have our first look at the iPhone 15 Pro, following a flurry of speculations regarding reduced bezels, curved edges, and a departure from Lightning.
In a series of renders shared to 9to5Mac by Ian Zelbo, this is the first time we’ve seen photographs of the iPhone 15. The renders were made using a CAD model provided by a “reputable case manufacturer.” These images were created “based on an early CAD model and may not reflect all aspects of Apple’s final design,” the website warns.
The iPhone 15 Pro is similar to the iPhone 14 Pro at first glance, with flat corners, a large camera bump, and the noticeable Dynamic Island. Yet, a deeper examination reveals that the design has undergone significant changes for the first time in some years.
The most significant change is the long-anticipated switch from Lightning to USB-C. As a result, the port is somewhat widened, removing one speaker hole from each side. The phone’s corners are also more rounded, similar to the Apple Watch, although the sides appear to be flat. The volume rocker and power button “appear to be capacitive instead of physical,” according to 9to5Mac, but the distinction is difficult to see.
Contrary to rumours, the camera bump appears to be relatively identical to that of the iPhone 14 Pro. The three cameras are positioned identically, although they are larger and appear to protrude more from the case.
The most notable alteration involves the display’s bezels. According to the renderings, the bezels have been significantly decreased, resulting in a display that is nearly edge-to-edge and a size reduction overall. Due to the reduction in bezels, the body of the smartphone is a few millimetres smaller, according to 9to5Mac, which does not disclose exact numbers.
That appears to be a pretty excellent refinement of the iPhone 14 Pro overall. While the iPhone 15 won’t be substantially different from previous versions, it will distinguish itself from those that were fairly similar. And it is noteworthy that this particular render is for the iPhone 15 Pro and not the Pro Max or Ultra, which are reported to include various upgrades, including a titanium body and a unique design.
