Usman and Kim! Sumit and Jenny! In season 7 of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily, Ever After, many of the show’s most beloved couples will be navigating the next stage of their relationships.
Yes, they have triumphed over difficulties related to long-distance relationships, initial cultural obstacles, and visa requirements. When the reality series returns to TLC and Discovery+ on Sunday, Aug. 28, seven returning couples will once again be put to the test as they deal with disapproving relatives, immigration challenges, and marital issues.
In EW’s first look at the new season, some of these issues are prominently featured. Read on for information on the six returning couples and the obstacles they will face after watching the spectacular teaser above. The seventh couple hasn’t yet been revealed by TLC or Discovery+, but more will come soon.
Michael, 34, and Angela, 56, of Hazlehurst, Georgia (Nigeria)
While Angela is inconsolable by Michael’s careless behavior, he is still in Nigeria due to continuous visa problems. Angela is concerned that he is trying to contact her because he has reactivated his social media accounts but has blocked her.
Angela starts a flirty friendship with a man she meets online because she needs support. Even though Michael’s visa application is about to be approved, Angela wants to give their marriage one last shot at repair and avoid meeting him in person.
Tampa, Florida native Elizabeth, 31, and Andrei, 35 (Moldova)
Things are going well for Elizabeth and Andrei now that they have a new house and aspirations for a new professional path. While Andrei settles into his own job, Elizabeth is thinking about switching to music as a career.
But tensions increase as worries grow that Elizabeth’s family is being cut off by Andrei, whose connection with his family has been rocky. The couple suspects someone is attempting to undermine their love when Andrei is forced to attend an unforeseen green card interview that puts him at risk of deportation.
Jovi, 31, of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Yara, 27, (Ukraine)
After the birth of daughter Mylah, Yara is battling postpartum issues, which is placing some strain on her relationship with Jovi. She is battling homesickness as well, but her intentions to visit Ukraine have been disrupted by Russia’s invasion of the nation.
The pair makes the decision to visit Prague, the city where Yara’s mother lives. Yara considers her choices for getting her loved ones to America as she desperately tries to assist them in navigating the Russia-Ukraine turmoil.
(San Diego, California) Ed, 56, and Liz, 29 (San Diego, Calif.)
Although Ed and Liz are prepared to say “I do,” their path to the altar is threatened by the couple’s long-simmering trust and control difficulties. As Ed’s friends and family are still hesitant to accept Liz into the fold, more challenges are present. While planning their engagement party and looking for a home together, they are both devoted to making the relationship work. However, trust issues and family problems prove to be the biggest obstacles to saying “I do.”
Sumit, 33, and Jenny, 63, of Palm Springs, California (India)
Sumit and Jenny are married, although Sumit’s family is against the union. They refuse to accept the marriage, despite his efforts to mend their strained relationship, and Jenny becomes increasingly homesick. Even worse, as their expectations for marriage begin to clash, the couple starts to suspect that their age gap may actually be having an adverse effect on their union.
Usman, 33, and Kim, 51, both of San Diego, Calif. (Nigeria)
Usman is not supported by either of his family when Kim gets there to pop the question. Usman’s mother is not too happy about her son marrying an older woman who is unable to have children, while Kim’s son worries that she is moving too quickly.
According to the teaser above, the tension picks up once Kim finds that Usman’s family is desperate to hook him up with a younger lady. This leads to some heated exchanges and a milkshake to the face.
