India’s version of Instagram Lite has been updated to include Reels viewing. The most recent update increases the utility of Instagram’s light version for people whose Android smartphones lack enough storage or processing power to support the full app.
Although the app was taken offline in May of last year and then re-released in September, Instagram Lite was initially released in November for testing back in June of 2018. In December, it was reintroduced to the Indian market for testing.
By visiting the specific Reels tab on Instagram Lite, users may now view Reels. The app has had access to the essential Instagram functionalities since its inception in December, and this is an enhancement to those functions.
It’s crucial to note that the most recent update does not provide Instagram Lite users the option to create new Reels, which is something you can do on the standard Instagram app. Instead, they will only be able to access Reels through that tab.
Reels made its debut in India in July of last year before being released globally as Instagram’s response to TikTok in November 2019.
With the use of audio, effects, and other creative capabilities, users of Instagram can now produce 15-second multi-clip videos that can either be shared with their followers on the app’s feed or made publicly accessible through the Explore section.
In August of last year, the Reels feature was made available to everyone, and in September of that same year, an exclusive tab for watching Reels was added to the standard Instagram app in India.
