The last mission of the sci-fi comedy-drama The Orville has begun, and many people are likely asking if The Orville: New Horizons is accessible on Netflix.
Seth MacFarlane, the cartoon emperor behind mega-hits like American Dad and Family Guy, hasn’t always been a hit in live-action, but with The Orville, he’s found success. The sitcom has moved to Hulu for its third and final season after two seasons on Fox.
The rating hit follows an exploration space ship and its Star Trek-style crew as they tackle problems in outer space 400 years in the future.
After the dramatic battle against the Kaylon, the ship has been repaired for space travel in the third installment, and it will be fascinating to see what the crew gets up to this time and, more importantly, if they survive.
Adrianne Palicki, Penny Johnson Jerald, Scott Grimes, Peter Macon, J. Lee, and Mark Jackson also feature with MacFarlane in the film.
Season 3 of The Orville will include 10 episodes instead of the typical 12 that fans have come to expect from previous seasons. However, the runtimes will be slightly longer, adding to the numerous reasons why viewers will not want to miss New Horizons.
Is there a Netflix version of The Orville: New Horizons?
The bad news is that there is no space above the title spacecraft for subscribers. Unfortunately, The Orville: New Horizons is not one among the numerous out-of-this-world Netflix selections.
Subscribers don’t have to go to the farthest reaches of the universe to discover good series and movies to watch. Space forces, inside job, The Mitchells vs. the Machines, space sweeper, and Don’t look up are among the amazing initiatives now available to see on Netflix.
Who is in the cast of The Orville: New Horizons?
For The Orville: New Horizons, Seth MacFarlane takes the helm. He also stars as Captain Ed Mercer, in addition to being the show’s creator.
MacFarlane’s most well-known characters are from his work as a voice actor on Family Guy, where he portrays Peter, Brian, and Stewie, as well as the foul-mouthed teddy bear Ted from the two films.
A Million Ways to Die in the West, Logan Lucky, and The Loudest Voice are just a few of MacFarlane’s live-action credits.
Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as Commander Kelly Grayson, Penny Johnson Jerald (24, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) as Dr. Claire Finn, and Scott Grimes (Justified, Mystery, Alaska) as Lt. Gordon Malloy join MacFarlane onboard the Orville.
Lt. Cmdr. Bortus is played by Peter Macon (Shameless, Bosch), Lt. Cmdr. John LaMarr is played by J. Lee (American Dad), Isaac is played by Mark Jackson (The Royal Today), Klyden is played by Chad L. Coleman (The Wire, The Walking Dead), Jessica Szohr (Shameless, Ted 2), and Ensign Charly Burke is played by Anne Winters.
The Plot of The Orville: New Horizons
Despite the challenges the play faced, the cast and crew managed to put on a fantastic performance. The show’s visual effects budget has been greatly expanded, according to the teaser and new footage for the third season, adding more action and space fights to the series.
The stakes are high, as the second season finished with a two-part conclusion in which Ed and Kelly’s first date established an alternate future.
The Kaylons, the series’ aggressor species, destroyed Earth and conquered half of the galaxy in that era. The Orville was destroyed in an attempt to return to the previous timeline, but the consequences of this deadly gamble are yet unknown.
While it appears that everyone survived and that the spacecraft, or at least a version of it, was unharmed, we don’t know what modifications in the universe remained.
Unfortunately, Orville’s future beyond this season is uncertain. Despite the fact that the series is doing well on Hulu, the cast has lost one of its greatest members.
MacFarlane is also occupied with other projects. The contracts associated with The Orville have already lapsed, which means the cast will have to be reassembled and new deals will have to be drawn up in order to make the fourth season, as they are currently occupied with producing and acting in the series Ted (which will premiere on NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock).
