James Franco is making a comeback in Hollywood. Franco is slated to star in the coming-of-age period drama four years after pulling away from the spotlight due to scandal. Me, You.
The movie Tu, Mia, directed by the Danish filmmaker Bille August, is based on the Erri De Luca novel of the same name, which is set in Italy in the years immediately following World War II.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Franco will co-star in the movie with Tom Hollander and Daisy Jacob. Filming is expected to begin in September on the Italian island of Ischia in the Gulf of Naples.
According to Entertainment Weekly, James Franco issued a statement in which he expressed his eagerness to be a part of the movie, saying, “Being a part of this incredible project and collaborating with the renowned Bille August excites me. I’m a tremendous admirer of his work, and the script for Me, You is exceptional.”
The Los Angeles Times reported in 2018 that several women had accused Franco of engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior. A sexual misconduct lawsuit was then filed against his acting school in 2019. This is Franco’s first feature endeavor after taking a break from acting in 2018. In February 2021, Franco and the lawsuit came to an agreement.
In a December interview with SiriusXM’s Jess Cagle, the actor addressed the charges for the first time and provided an explanation for his silence.
Well, in 2018, there were some complaints and an article written about him. At that time, he decided to keep silent. “I’m going to stop. It didn’t feel like the correct moment to speak. I needed to listen to the folks who were angry with me.”
So, he said, “I’ve just been working a lot. “I would predict with some confidence that it will be around four years. Additionally, I had previously been in recovery from substance misuse. Additionally, I had to cope with several problems that had a connection to addiction. So I really started looking into this and changed who I was using my expertise in recovery.”
Franco admitted that he had cheated on all of his previous relationships before his current girlfriend, Isabel Pakzad, and claimed he had been in sex addiction recovery since 2016.
