Users will be able to outfit their virtual avatars in clothing from companies like Prada, Balenciaga, and Thom Browne thanks to the social media giant, which is owned by businessman Mark Zuckerberg and includes Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

Zuckerberg stated in a post on Instagram: “We’re excited to introduce our Avatars Store on Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger, where you can purchase virtual clothing to dress up your avatar. With @balenciaga, @prada, and @thombrowne, we’re off to a great start!”

The multibillionaire CEO continued by describing digital goods as a means for people to “express” themselves and hinted that there might be more information soon.

He also added the following beside a picture of several avatars sporting fashionable attire: “The creative economy will be significantly fueled by digital commodities, which are a significant means of metaverse expression. Soon we’ll also bring this to VR and add more businesses! Coming soon: more”

Fans could give their virtual avatars a “fresh fit” with the upcoming apparel line, MetaNewsroom informed them on Twitter as the news broke.

In the live stream, Chen also displayed printouts of potential new styles created by the brands and rendered on a Mark Zuckerberg avatar.
