March 9 (Reuters) – After a global outage, the photo-sharing platform Meta Platform’s META.O Instagram was back up for the majority of its users on Thursday, the company said, adding that a technical issue that had been ongoing for several hours has been resolved.
“Earlier this evening, a technical issue resulted in people having difficulty logging into their Instagram accounts. In a tweet, Instagram announced that the problem had been fixed as quickly as it could be for all users.
At the height of the outage, the website that monitors service disruptions known as Downdetector reported more than 53,000 instances of users being unable to access Instagram. The website compiles status reports from a variety of sources, one of which is the errors on its platform that have been reported by users.

Downdetector reported that the number of Instagram outages in the United States had dropped below 1,000 as the service was being brought back online.
According to the website that tracks outages, the number of people reporting problems decreased to fewer than one hundred in the United Kingdom, India, Japan, and Australia.
