Reportedly, New MacBook Airs and 13-Inch MacBook Pros Will Include an M3 Chip.

According to 9to5Mac sources, the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models of Apple’s next generation will each feature an M3 processor. According to the report, Apple also intends to release an updated 13-inch MacBook Pro with an M3 chip.

According to the report, the unannounced M3 chip will have an 8-core CPU like the M2 chip, but the chip is expected to be manufactured using TSMC’s most recent 3nm process for further performance and power efficiency enhancements. The M2 chip and its Pro and Max variants are manufactured using TSMC’s second-generation 5nm technology.

The report does not specify when the three MacBooks will be unveiled, but WWDC 2023 in June would be an ideal time for Apple to unveil the M3 chip and the first Macs powered by the chip. At WWDC 2022, Apple debuted the existing MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro alongside the M2 chip.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg speculated on Sunday that at least the new 13-inch MacBook Air would be equipped with the M3 chip. Apple will likely release both the 13-inch and 15-inch models between late spring and summer, he said.

There have been conflicting reports regarding whether the new MacBook Airs will feature the M2 or M3 chip and when they will be released. A few hours ago, display industry analyst Ross Young reaffirmed his belief that the 15-inch MacBook Air will debut in April, but the exact date is currently unknown.
