When he dated women, Ricky Martin claims he “wasn’t fooling anyone.”
Before coming out as homosexual in 2010, the 49-year-old music artist romanced “a lot of ladies,” but he has denied any notion that he was being dishonest with his partners.
“Sexuality is a complex subject. Nothing is in black and white. It is awash in hues. I was in love with women when I was dating them. This week, the crooner told People magazine, “It felt right, it felt lovely.”
You cannot fake chemistry; it existed between them. I wasn’t deceiving anybody, he continued.
Martin had romances with Carlos Gonzalez (2008–2014), Nathan Lane (2008), Ines Misan (2000–2002), Maital Saban (2000), Adriana Biega (1998–1999), Lilly Melgar (1994), Rebecca de Alba (1994–2005), and Gabriela Sabatini before he wed artist Jwan Yosef in 2017. (1992).
Ten years before he came out as gay, Ricky was probed about his sexuality during an interview with Barbara Walters in 2000.
He turned down the opportunity to come out at the time, but he now acknowledges that it would have been “wonderful” if he had had the courage to do so.
What would you have done differently, many people ask Ricky. Maybe if I had disclosed myself during the interview.
It would have been fantastic since it felt incredible when I came out, he continued.
I want to discuss everything about who I am, including my sexuality, and everything that makes up who I am. It’s a life-or-death situation if you hide it.
Ricky also notes that coming out is still a challenge for young people, particularly if they don’t have enough role models in the LBGTQ community.
The singer of Livin’ la Vida Loca, the first gay-popular Latin music musician, said: “There are many, many children out there who don’t have somebody to look up to.” They only have individuals telling them that what they are feeling is evil.
But you can’t make someone come out on their own. However, if you crack open an egg from the outside, nothing but death will spill out. However, life emerges from the egg if it cracks open from the inside.
Martin previously stated that he had made sure to monitor his kids’ mental health throughout the COVID-19 outbreak.
The musician, who is married to Yosef, has twins Matteo and Valentino, 12, Lucia, 2, and Renn, 17 months, and has admitted that even though he felt “worry” at the height of the pandemic last year, he took care to check in with his family to make sure they weren’t experiencing the same things.
“My family was doing fantastic, and I was checking in on my kids constantly to make sure they weren’t experiencing the same anxiousness I was, to be honest,” he said. However, they were in a really good position.
Throughout the epidemic, Ricky and his family have been quarantined with his mother. According to the hitmaker, his kids are ‘crazily delighted’ to have their grandmother with them.
They were ecstatic to be with their grandparents, he said, because fortunately, my mother was with us for the first four months of the pandemic. I told her, “Mom, you’re not getting on another plane to go back home,” when she came to visit us in Los Angeles. Sorry. You will remain with us.
She is here with us was wonderful. She being there really helped me finish my album when everyone else was going crazy.
And while the pandemic has been challenging for people all around the world, Ricky, who has spent the past few months living in his Puerto Rico house with his family, has acknowledged he “can’t complain” about his own situation.
He stated, “I can’t complain,” to People magazine. This is gorgeous. In my family’s company. I’ve been here for a while now, having undergone quarantine and all the necessary testing on everyone—especially my parents. Although it seems so strange, I’m glad to be here.
