Spark email for macOS: Update 1.4 with new 3rd party integrations

We reviewed Spark last year when Readdle released the macOS version of their popular iOS email app and quickly realised that it's the best mail client we've ever used on the Mac. It's been our default mail app ever since.

Spark is not just available on both iOS and macOS, it's also free with no hidden in-app purchases. Spark has just been updated to version 1.4 on macOS with one major feature: integration of 3rd party services.

We updated Spark to version 1.4 via the Mac App Store and jumped into the new 3rd party integration feature.

Spark 1.4 supports the following services:

  • Reminders
  • Things
  • 2Do
  • OmniFocus
  • Wunderlist
  • Todoist
  • Trello
  • Asana
  • Evernote
  • OneNote
  • Bear

To add one of these services, open a mail, select the ellipses (3 dots) button and choose the service you wish to integrate. We added the Reminders app that's part of macOS and then chose a mail that had a date/time in it to test how well Spark would link to Reminders.

Clicking the newly added reminders link caused a confirmation window to pop up with the added date/time and name of the appointment.

We saved it and opened the Reminders to find our appointment ready and waiting. It's a very simple but effective feature that we think is useful and something that we will use on a regular basis.

Spark still has all the features that we loved in our previous review like customisable gestures, smart inbox and quick replies. This new feature only confirms Spark's place as our best email client for macOS.
