The Chi is one of those shows that effortlessly manage to validate the category and resonate with people, but with a unique twist, which is why Season 5 of The Chi is one of the most anticipated television shows of the year.
We’ve been utterly engrossed in the community drama, which debuted in 2017 and has now aired four seasons. It boasts an excellent cast and an engaging story.

The Chi Season 5: When Will It Be Released?
The good news is that Season 5 of The Chi will launch on June 24, 2022, as revealed by Showtime on April 19th. The Chi’s fifth season is planned to consist of ten episodes.
Due to a positive COVID-19 test, the series’ development was suspended in March 2021. The series was renewed for a fifth season on August 2, 2021, following the conclusion of the fourth season.
On Friday, June 24, all Showtime subscribers will be able to watch the first episode of Season 5 of The Chi online. On Sunday, June 26 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, the show’s fifth season will begin.
Along with the announcement that Chi Season 5 would be released soon, we also learned that some cast members would be returning.
Returning guest artists Kandi Burruss, La La Anthony, Jason Weaver, and Iman Shumpert will join series regulars Jacob Latimore, Alex Hibbert, Yolonda Ross, Shamon Brown Jr., Michael V. Epps, Birgundi Baker, Luke James, and Curtiss Cook on the show.
Nia Jervier, Carolyn Michelle Smith, L’lerrét Jazelle, and Antonyah Allen are all returning to the show this season. Jewel Coronel has also been upgraded to executive producer from co-executive producer.
According to reports, Allen will play Simone, a female who shares Kevin’s school experience and aids him in the acquisition of new knowledge.
Jazelle will play Fatima, a journalist who is dedicated to uncovering the truth about a specific topic. Tierra, Douda’s niece, will be playing Jervier, and she will be assisting him in his journey to rebuild himself. Finally, Smith will play Deja, a potential love interest for Shaad.

Tiff (Hannah Hall) and Emmett (Jacob Latimore) become co-parents as Tiff becomes more involved with Rob (Iman Shumpert). Kevin (Alex Hibbert) finds new love in an unexpected place as Jake (Michael V. Epps) and Papa (Shamon Brown Jr.) try to work things out with Jemma (Judae’a Brown) and Maisha (Genesis Denise Hale).
Kiesha (Birgundi Baker), a new mother, tries to rebuild her life with baby Ronnie, while Nina (Tyla Abercrombie) and Dre (Miriam A. Hyman) try to mend their marriage while supporting Lynae (Zara Primer). Jada (Yolonda Ross) considers her post-cancer life and where Suede (Bernard Gilbert) fits in, while Darnell (Rolando Boyce) mulls over his relationship with Dom (La La Anthony).
Tracy and Roselyn’s (Kandi Burruss) new pet project are at odds (Tai Davis). Meanwhile, with the encouragement of Douda (Curtiss Cook) and the help of Shaad (Jason Weaver), Trig (Luke James) considers a political run, but at what cost to himself and his family?
Talking about the showrunner
Showrunner Justin Hillian said that he planned to continue the storyline after the fourth season of Chi finished in a post-episode interview.
The Chi has received a nomination for a Black Reel Award. It received a nomination for the NAACP Image Award.
Jet Wilkinson, Gandja Monteiro, Darren Grant, Tanya Hamilton, David Rodriguez, Justin Tipping, Rebecca Rodriguez, Nancy C. Mejia, Samir Rehem, Roxann Dawson, Rick Famuyiwa, and Zetna Fuentes were among the many directors that worked on the Chi television series.
