This fall, Netflix will release a new stop-motion animated feature from Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Henry Selick and Academy Award winner Jordan Peele. Wendel & Wild was written by Selick and Peele in collaboration with Keegan-Michael Key, Henry Selick, and Clay McLeod Chapman.
Monkeypaw Productions, Gotham Group, and Principato-Young Entertainment are producing the film, which is set to premiere on Netflix in 2021. It will be Selick’s first feature picture since Coraline, which he directed in 2009.
Sarah Serata will co-produce, with Win Rosenfeld, Peter Principato, Joel Zadak, Lindsay Williams, and Eddie Gamarra serving as executive producers.
Not only does the film appear to be a lot of fun, but it will also reunite longtime collaborators Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, who you may recall from the comic series Key and Peele. Wendell will be played by Emmy Award-winning actor Keegan-Michael Key, with Peele co-starring as his brother Wild.
Here’s all we know so far about the new flick.
Wendell & Wild’s release date has been updated.
However, the exact debut date is unknown. Netflix has announced that the film will be available on the platform in October 2022. It appears that they’re planning to release it during the Halloween season, which fits with the film’s creepy vibe.
