What’s more, the Meta-owned messaging app is currently working on a new camera UI for its iOS app, in addition to the slew of new features it’s been seen testing. Here’s a look at some of the upcoming changes.
A New Camera UI Has Arrived for WhatsApp on iOS
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp for iOS beta version 2.22.4.72 includes a new camera user interface. A few minor tweaks will be made as a result. To begin, the new camera user interface will not show the current horizontal media bar, which allows users to quickly upload or send media.
An entirely new bottom-left button will direct users to their phone’s Photos app, where they can select a photo or video to share with others or post as a Status update. For those times when you don’t want anyone else to see what’s in your gallery, this is a simple way to hide it from view.

This same bottom right corner of the screen will feature a reworked switch camera icon. With this feature, you can toggle between the front and rear cameras to see what the camera sees. WhatsApp’s camera is expected to see more improvements in the app’s Android version as well.
New Tow Too Caption View
For iOS users, WhatsApp has also been spotted testing a new Caption View. New Caption View contains the details of contacts who are able to see the Status you’ve just uploaded to Facebook.
Uploading media from a specific WhatsApp chat as a Status will also be possible. Users will be able to continue to post photos and videos taken with WhatsApp’s built-in camera as Status updates. However, it’s not clear when the feature will be available for iOS and Android users.
In addition, WhatsApp is also experimenting with new features, such as a new Communities section, a global media player for mobile and desktop users, message reactions, and a slew of others. It is our hope that these new features will soon be available to the general public.
