The upcoming significant upgrade for Xbox consoles will have a new Shutdown option that saves more energy, making them more “carbon conscious.”

Microsoft has said that an upcoming update to Xbox systems will make them more “carbon conscious.” The functionality, which is now accessible to Xbox Insiders, modifies the Xbox Series X/S Shutdown option to reduce power usage when the console is idle.

Microsoft claims that the new Shutdown option is more environmentally friendly, consuming twenty times less energy than the consoles’ sleep mode. Microsoft claims that every two Xbox Series X/S consoles in Shutdown mode save enough energy to sustain a tree for ten years.

The business just announced a January 25 event with Bethesda that will feature games such as Forza Motorsport, Redfall, Minecraft Legends, and The Elder Scrolls Online.

The emphasis on Redfall will feature “several minutes” of single-player and co-op gameplay, highlighting the game’s combat, customization options, bosses, and open environment.

Notably, Starfield will not be participating in the showcase.
