The touching show was praised for its realistic portrayal of high school life, the universal topic of emotion, and engaging characters. Regardless, you may be considering a second season after the first season’s cliffhanger.
Youthful Royals is a Swedish teen dramatization online TV series set in Hillerska, a fictitious selective live-in school for teenagers. The plot centers around Prince Wilhelm of Sweden, his growing gay feelings for one of his understudies, and the ensuing upheaval. The six-episode series, which will premiere on Netflix on July 1, 2021, was considered by Lisa Ambjörn, Lars Beckung, and Camilla Holter.
We learned that a new season would begin on September 22, 2021. Around the same time, they announced that the following season would instead premiere in 2022.
Season 1 of Youthful Royals was so popular on Netflix that a second season was quickly ordered.
Everyone is waiting to see if Young Royals season 2 will be released on Netflix in 2022.
Release Date for Season 2 of Young Royals
Given that the first season of this series aired in July of 2021, we anticipate that the second season will premiere in 2022 at the earliest.
July 2022 is a good estimation for Young Royals season 2 because it takes into account how long the next season’s creation would take if everything goes smoothly. We may have to wait a little longer for Young Royals season 2 because production on season 2 has yet to begin.
In an ideal world, we’ll be able to see the next season before the fall of 2022.
We’re very certain that season 2 won’t be delayed until 2023, but since Netflix is now unable to make any statements, anything is conceivable.
While you wait for more information about season 2, catch up on each episode of Young Royals, which is now exclusively available on Netflix!
Who is in the Young Royals Season 2 cast?
Most of the regular cast members of “Young Royals” are expected to return for the second season of the teen drama. “What’s unexpected (and refreshing) is seeing so many real-life teenagers on-screen,” critics say, praising the show for age-appropriate casting rather than casting older, typically good-looking actors (Radio Times).
This cast includes:
- Edvin Ryding as Prince Wilhelm,
- Omar Rudberg as Simon Eriksson,
- Malte Grdinger as August af Arnas,
- Wilhelm’s second cousin,
- Frida Argento as Sara Eriksson,
- Nikita Uggla as Felice Ehrencrona,
- Pernilla August as Queen Kristina of Sweden,
- Wilhelm and Erik’s mother,
- Ingela Olsson as Hillerska Headmistress Anette Lilja,
Ivar Forsling, who played Prince Erik, the Crown Prince, and Wilhelm’s brother, is unlikely to return because he sadly died in the first season. If he does, it won’t be as a regular character; instead, he’ll most likely appear in flashbacks or in various ways to other characters.

What is the plot of Season 2 of Young Royals?
Prince Wilhelm of Sweden (Edvin Ryding) is the title character, a teen monarch whose proclivity for getting into mischief, including going viral in a fistfight, has him sent to boarding school against his will.
Wille, the prince’s nickname, must navigate his new surroundings while coping with royal duties and, to his surprise, falling in love with his classmate Simon (Omar Rudberg).
We may expect the emotional consequences from the events of Season 1, such as Crown Prince Erik’s death and Wilhelm and Simon’s breakup after their s*x tape was published, to continue in the second season.
Though Wille, like Audrey Hepburn in “Roman Holiday,” chose duty over love this season, if the two still have feelings for each other, that could alter.
Because of Erik’s death, there will almost probably be more storyline next season, as Wilhelm is now the successor to the throne, making his royal responsibilities an even bigger part of his life. When Season 2 arrives, we’ll find out what happened to Wilhelm and the rest of the cast.
