Who would have predicted that people would use Bing in 2023? By choice! According to Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s VP of Modern Life, Search, and Devices, Bing has surpassed 100 million daily active users one month after the launch of its chatbot AI. He stated that the company is aware it is still “a small, low, single-digit share player,” but hey, there was a time when Bing wasn’t even mentioned.

Approximately one-third of Bing’s daily preview users have utilised its chat AI to conduct their queries. Microsoft receives an average of three chats per session, with over 45 million chats since the launch of the new Bing. Microsoft capitalised by integrating advanced chatbot AI into its search engine, but Google is racing to catch up: Bard, its own chat AI, was introduced last month. As you will see in today’s newsletter, OpenAI and chatbots have had a busy 24 hours.
