Redfall resembles Far Cry significantly more than Left 4 Dead, according to the game’s developers. Redfall is one of the many new Xbox titles slated for release this year, and the platform and its subscription service, Xbox Game Pass, will hopefully benefit from its success. Given that it is a four-player co-op game, it will undoubtedly attract a large number of gamers searching for a new game to enjoy with their friends. Redfall places players in a tranquil and picturesque New England town that has been overtaken by cultists and vampires.

Given the four-player co-op component, the fact that you fight the undead from a first-person perspective, etc., similarities to Left 4 Dead arose early. Harvey Smith and Ricardo Bare of Arkane Studios told GamesRadar that it resembles Far Cry, notably Far Cry 2. That does not imply that you will be climbing towers and completing various fetch quests; rather, it indicates that the game’s open world will be denser and more dynamic than any other Arkane game to date.

The team is focusing on building a world that correctly depicts the look it is attempting to mimic, that of a New England “tourist trap.” It’s not so much a horde shooter but a place to explore and become lost in, while also becoming familiar with as you spend more time there.

“In terms of flexibility, Redfall is comparable to other open-world games,” adds Bare. “However, because the game is played on foot, the scope and pace are somewhat slowed down.” “We desire for you to creep through a cornfield at night in the fog, hearing vampires whispering in the distance. Perhaps you will see a farmhouse in the distance and sneak up to it, only to discover that it is full of cultists and a few imprisoned survivors whom you can rescue. This is the kind of atmosphere Redfall has.”

As of now, it remains to be seen how Redfall compares to the games to which it is being compared. Regardless, if it can live up to its ambitions, it sounds like something that will provide players with hours of co-op entertainment. We do not currently know when Redfall will be released, but we hope it will not be too long.
