Brooklyn, NY – May 9, 2024 – A tragic incident occurred yesterday evening in Bushwick, Brooklyn, where a 71-year-old woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver. The NYPD is currently searching for the suspect who fled the scene after the collision.

The accident took place around 5:30 PM at the intersection of Elder Street and Knickerbocker Avenue. According to witnesses, the driver, operating a blue Mazda CX-5 with Massachusetts plates, was speeding through the intersection when they struck two women crossing the street.

The 71-year-old woman was pronounced dead at Wyckoff Hospital, while the other victim, a 44-year-old woman, sustained injuries and is expected to recover at Elmhurst Hospital Center.

The NYPD is investigating the incident and is on the lookout for the driver who fled the scene on foot towards the Halsey Street subway station.
