Yoshioka and Shunsuke Ogata adapted the novel into a manga called “Wise Man’s Grandchild,” or “Kenja No Mago” in Japanese. The manga debuted in March 2016 on the Young Ace Up website published by Kadokawa Shoten. An anime television series based on the manga was produced by Silver Link and debuted for the first time on April 10, 2019. The overwhelming positive response from fans and critics alike indicates that the anime is doing well.

What Is the Meaning of “The Grandchild of the Wise Man”?

A Japanese salaryman is the protagonist of this story, and he tragically loses his life in a car crash. He is given a second chance at life and is reborn in another world as a child. A heroic patriot named Merlin Wolford rescues him and gives him the name Shin. Shin was born into a world where magic and sorcery are the norm.

Soon enough, Shin becomes Merlin’s grandchild and absorbs his wisdom. The first season of the anime show debuted on AT-X in April of this year. It wasn’t long before it was being broadcast on Tokyo MX, BS11, and other Japanese TV stations. Funimation licenced the anime series in North America based on the eponymous light novel series written by Tsuyoshi Yoshioka.

A magical beach volleyball scene was featured in the first season of the anime, but we don’t know much else about the second installment of the TV series. Additional sunscreen antics, breast suffocations, and delinquent Grandpa fishing are detailed in manga Chapter 26, which we can only hope will be addressed in the sequel.
