Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, said that the tech giant plans to add artificial intelligence (AI) features to its search engine that can have conversations. Pichai also said that the market for AI chatbots is “bigger than before.”
“We’ve been adding features to our products, but the capabilities have gotten a lot stronger and more amazing, so I think we can do a lot more. We are also trying to figure out how to do this well at a large scale and make sure it can be done efficiently from a computing point of view. There are costs and benefits,” he said.
Pichai said that the company can now handle a wide range of creative and collaborative use cases thanks to Bard.
“I think we’ve been using LLMs to improve the quality of search results and the search experience, but I think we’ll add the modern LLM features to search natively. We are working to make sure it works well for users—they have high expectations, and we want to meet them,” Pichai said.
Using this technology, the tech giant will also make its search engine better for users. “Will people be able to ask Google questions and interact with LLMs while searching? Absolutely,” Pichai added.
