The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions of Hogwarts Legacy have been postponed to April 4, while the Switch version will be released on July 25.

The news was announced on the game’s official Twitter account alongside the announcement of the Switch release date, but no reason was given for the delay of the previous-generation version. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions of Hogwarts Legacy will launch as scheduled on February 10 and are impacted.

The tweet stated, “The team is excited to bring you the game, and we want to provide the finest possible gaming experience across all platforms.”

This is the second postponement for Hogwarts Legacy, which was originally slated to release around the holiday season of this year before being pushed out to February.

Avalanche Software has been gradually revealing key aspects of the game, including its Hogsmeade quest, flying broom parts, and Hogwarts’ dark magic.

One of the most discussed aspects of Hogwarts Legacy is its relationship to Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, whose transphobic remarks have stirred controversy in recent years. Warner Bros. has stated that the author is not directly engaged with the game, but the company’s leadership has stated that “she has the right to voice her personal views.”
