The Federal Trade Commission announced on Monday that it had reached a settlement with Fortnite developer Epic Games on privacy concerns for children and payment systems that induced users to make unwanted purchases.

According to the FTC, Epic will pay $520 million to settle the dispute, including $245 million in customer refunds.

FTC Chairwoman Lina Khan said in a statement that Epic utilised privacy-invasive default settings and deceptive interfaces to fool Fortnite users, particularly teenagers and minors.

The Ftc Stated that Parents Whose Children Made Improper Purchases in The Epic Games Store Between January 2017 and November 2018 Are Eligible.

In Addition, Players Who Were Charged V-Bucks for Unwanted In-Game Items Between January 2017 and September 2022 Will Be Eligible for A Refund.

The Ftc Stated that The Refunds Also Apply to Gamers Whose Accounts Were Banned After Challenging Improper Transactions Between January 2017 and September 2022.
