Counter-Strike 2 has officially gotten the attention of the entire Counter-Strike fan base, which is one of the largest player bases for a multiplayer game in the world and is still growing after more than a decade.
CS2 is the “biggest technical step forward in Counter-history,” Strike’s and when it comes out this summer as a free upgrade to CS:GO, it will mark the beginning of the next era of the famous series.
All of the maps in the new game will look better and have new features. There will also be a new server tick architecture, volumetric smoke grenades, and more features that haven’t been announced yet.
Even though most Counter-Strike players use PC, there are some who use Mac. Will those same people also be able to play CS2?
Will CS2 be on Mac or macOS?
Only Windows users will be able to play the limited test of Counter-Strike 2, so Mac users who want to play from now until the full launch this summer will have to use a programme like Boot Camp to run Windows on their Mac.
But since CS2 will be released as an update to CS:GO in the future and CS:GO can already be played on Mac and macOS through Steam, it’s likely that CS2 will also be playable on Mac without running Windows. Players will have to wait until CS2 comes out in full.
What are the CS2 System Requirements on Mac?
At the moment, we don’t know the exact system requirements for CS2 on Mac, but here are the current requirements for CS:GO, taken from the official Steam listing:
- OS: MacOS X 10.11 (El Capitan) or later
- Processor: Intel Core Duo Processor (2GHz or better)
- Memory: 2 GB RAM
- Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 2400 or better / NVIDIA 8600M or better
- Storage: 15 GB available space
But since CS2 will run on the Source 2 engine, the requirements could end up being higher, like four or eight GB of RAM or a better processor and graphics card.
